Welcome to the First Amendment Foundation's Public Records and Open Government Training Application

Access to public records and open meetings are not just privileges but constitutional rights of all Floridians. The First Amendment Foundation is deeply committed to protecting and advancing these rights, ensuring transparency and accountability in government.

Our mission is to educate and empower citizens, elected officials, and government staff to understand and uphold the principles of open government as enshrined in Florida's Constitution and statutes. We believe that informed officials and employees are key to fostering an environment of transparency and trust.

To this end, we are pleased to offer a comprehensive training program designed specifically for local and state agency elected officials and staff. This program not only helps participants understand the legal requirements but also provides practical guidance on how to ensure compliance with Florida's public records laws.

Our training covers a wide range of topics, including:

  • The legal framework governing public records and open meetings in Florida.

  • Best practices for maintaining and providing access to public records.

  • Strategies for conducting open meetings in compliance with state statutes.

  • Tools and resources to help manage public records requests efficiently and transparently.

Through this questionnaire/reservation application, we aim to streamline the process of enrolling in our training sessions. Your participation is a crucial step towards fostering a government that operates with openness and integrity, thereby reinforcing the trust between the public and their elected representatives.

Join us in our mission to promote a culture of transparency and accountability. Together, we can ensure that the rights of all Floridians to access public records and attend open meetings are upheld and protected.
